A cru bourgeois under the same ownership as Chateau Montrose, and sharing the same administrator, Herve Berland, Tronquoy Lalande made sensational wines in 2009 and 2010 that represented great value. The 2011 possesses a dense ruby/plum color, a richer, more textured mouthfeel than many of its peers, medium body, silky tannin, and fleshy black currant and black cherry fruit. It is an excellent effort as well as a potential sleeper of the vintage. Consume it now or cellar it for ten years. (Robert M. Parker, Jr.)

Now under the administration of new owner Philippe Cuvelier (owner of Clos Fourtet), Poujeaux has dramatically improved the quality. The 2012, a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, is a very good Moulis. With a dense ruby/purple color, nice cassis fruit, medium-bodied texture, soft tannins and a fleshy, nicely textured mouthfeel, it should drink well for 10-12 years. (Robert M. Parker, Jr.)

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 la Tour Carnet has an earthy nose with tobacco and underbrush over a core of warm plums, kirsch and tea. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing, elegant, juicy and soft with a savory finish. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

The 2015 la Tour Carnet is medium garnet-purple in color and has an earthy nose with red and black fruits and floral notions. The medium-bodied palate has plenty of energy with a great core of pure red and black fruits plus approachable tannins and nice freshness on the finish. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

The 2014 Poujeaux has a slight mulchy scent on the nose that detracted from the clarity and complexity of the aromatics. The palate is quite structured with rather dry tannins, moderate weight but attenuating towards the pinched finish. This showed better in barrel and so hopefully it will improve in bottle. It just seems a bit "lost" at the moment. Tasted twice with consistent notes. (Neal Martin)

Made in an attractive, broad, round style, this dark ruby-colored 2011 offers a fragrant perfume of red and black fruits and spice, medium body, and a silky finish. This medium-bodied wine should be consumed over the next 5-6 years. (Robert M. Parker, Jr.)

The 2013 La Dame de Montrose has a light, fleshy strawberry and Morello-scented nose thanks to the high percentage of Merlot (69%). The palate is nicely balanced, perhaps "skinny" in the context of other vintages, but the acidity imparts decent tension and there is a dash of spice on the aftertaste that livens things up. Don't expect too much and you'll be able to enjoy this over the next 5 or 6 years. (Neal Martin)

The 2013 De Fieuzal has an open, quite sensual bouquet with scents of black cherry, wild strawberry and wet stone, an attractive floral aspect developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, succulent in the mouth with good acidity, polished with a smooth, harmonious finish. This is commendable for the vintage, even if it is just missing a little personality. (Neal Martin)

The Chevalier de Lascombes 2014 has a plush, easygoing, quite opulent nose that is clearly designed to be punter friendly. The palate is rounded with gritty tannin, tarry black fruit with a slightly short finish. It does not flow as a second wine ought to. (Neal Martin)

The 2014 Croizet Bages has a rather high-toned bouquet with very overt floral, almost lavender-like aromas that for me just detracts from Pauillac typicité. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, simple leather-tinged red berry fruit, but it is missing some delineation and grip on the rather monochromatic finish. (Neal Martin)

One of this appellation’s finest second wines, the 2011 La Dame de Montrose offers attractive black cherry and black currant fruit, soft tannins, medium body and a silky personality. While it lacks concentration, it makes up for it with its charm and forward appeal. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. (Robert M. Parker, Jr.)

The 2014 Lalande-Borie is one of those wines you want to give a gentle kick up the backside. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with this Saint Julien, but it seems to be coasting, not putting in the effort to please you or I. It offers light leafy, brambly red berry fruit on the nose, nicely defined but missing a little intensity. Likewise the palate is balanced and quite elegant, yet I was seeking more body and greater sense of energy on the finish. As such, I would be drinking this over the next seven or eight years, no longer. (Neal Martin)

The 1999 Potensac is an elegant, angular, austere effort, which offers aromas of earth, underbrush, and black currants. This medium-bodied, tannic Medoc is best drunk over the next 6-8 years. (Robert M. Parker, Jr.)

Owned by the well-known Cazes family of Lynch-Bages, this popular St.-Estephe has turned out a dark ruby/plum-colored 2011 with sweet cassis and black cherry fruit. A slightly short finish is present, but the wine has a good front end-loaded combination of fruit, extract and succulence. It’s medium-bodied and tails off in the mouth, but it is well-made. Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cantemerle offers up warm plums, black cherries and mulberries with an earth and bay leaves undercurrent. The palate is medium-bodied with just enough fruit and pleasantly chewy tannins, finishing with an herbal lift. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
